Clemson baseball 2017 signee Sam Weatherly was named Mr. Baseball for the state of Michigan at the High School Baseball Coaches Association annual banquet on Monday night.
In 2017, Weatherly batted .472 as an outfielder and had a 6-2 record with 0.78 ERA on the mound. For those impressive statistics, Weatherly was named a 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game 3rd Team All-American.
Despite being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 27th round, he will start summer classes next week at Clemson.
“It’s bittersweet,” Weatherly said via the Livingston Post, “but I’m ready to start a new chapter. I’m ready to get going and see where baseball takes me, and I’m looking forward to going to Clemson.”
