Clemson has offered 3-star 2016 defensive back J.J. Givens TigerNet spoke with Givens on Tuesday and he was very excited about the Clemson offer even though he is still committed to the Gamecocks. "Definitely one I've wanted for awhile (Clemson offer), I'm still fully committed to South Carolina but they (Clemson) definitely will be there until the end and they want me bad," Givens said. Givens has been impressed with all the different Clemson coaches that have a good chemistry together. "They have really close coaches and great team chemistry that's why they have won 10 games consecutively over the years. Coach Venables knows how to win and get it done and I love his sense of humor and he's a good guy. Coach Mike Reed knows what he's doing as well." The under-radar defensive back is also impressed with Clemson's starting cornerback Mackenzie Alexander. "Mackenzie Alexander is a All-American DB - Savage, Beast and Confident." Givens has offers from Arizona State, Duke, East Carolina, Indiana, James Madison, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia. As a junior, he had 34 tackles, 4 interceptions, 12 pass break ups and a kickoff return for a touchdown. He said that he plans to take an unofficial visit to Clemson in August.J.J. Givens
