Georgia’s high school passing record books now read
Trevor Lawrence, No. 1, and Deshaun Watson, No. 2.
The five-star Clemson quarterback commit continued an incredible four-year run at Cartersville (Ga.) by passing Watson less than nine full games into his senior campaign, vaulting over the 13,077 record-count in the first half versus Chapel Hill (Ga.) Friday night. Lawrence will continue his chase for another Watson mark next week. The state record for total passing scores (155) is within his grasp as well, where he entered the night six touchdowns short of breaking the record and went on to pass for four scores, completing 17-of-23 passes for 283 yards to go up 49-0 in one half of play. The 6-foot-6 prospect has led Cartersville to 39-straight wins and back-to-back state titles, and he's had quite the senior campaign. He went into tonight's game completing 73.3 percent of his passes with 30 touchdowns to one interception, averaging 295 passing yards per game and adding two touchdowns and 7.5 yards per carry on the ground. Lawrence holds a 100 rating by 247Sports.com along with Georgia commit Justin Fields, where they're atop both the 2018 QB and overall rankings.
