4-star RB Cesare "Chez" Mellusi (Naples, Fla.) announced a commitment to Clemson Monday night via Twitter.
"To all my family and friends, thank you for supporting me and pushing me through many obstacles. With that being said, I would like to announce my commitment to The CLEMSON UNIVERSITY!!!" Mellusi posted. The Naples High School product averaged 8.9 yards per carry last season, totaling 1,505 rushing yards with 19 touchdowns. He is rated as high as the No. 15 RB in the nation and was offered by the Tigers on a visit last week. His commitment is the ninth in the 2019 class for Clemson and a fifth in the last four days, joining 5-star WR Frank Ladson, 4-star QB Taisun Phommanchanh, 3-star safety Lannden Zanders and 3-star linebacker Bryton Constantin. He elevates Clemson's rank to 9th in 247Sports' Composite team recruiting rankings after being 26th to start Saturday. Mellusi holds 20-plus offers total with Notre Dame and Miami among his previous top schools. "I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and opportunity to play the sport I love and cherish," Mellusi said in his announcement. "I want to thank my parents for all the sacrifices they've made to put me in the position I am today. I would also like to thank my amazing coaches for molding me into the man that I have become." Mellusi said after his visit last week that although Clemson waited to offer, they had stayed in good communication and that Clemson was one of his favorite schools. He added that the way the Tigers use running backs in different ways and being a playoff contender was a draw to the school.
