Tajh Boyd released by CFL team

The Montreal Alouettes released 14 players, including quarterbacks Tajh Boyd on Saturday according to team officials.

Each CFL team had to cut their rosters down to 46 players by Sunday at noon ET.

Boyd had three rushes for eight yards but threw a pick on his only attempt on Friday's final exhibition game.

He passed for 11,904 yards with a 64.3% completion rate, 107 touchdowns, and 39 interceptions during his outstanding career at Clemson. He also rushed for 1,100 yards and another 26 scores on the ground. The former fan-favorite was also the ACC Player of the year in 2012.

The CFL regular season begins Thursday with the Toronto Argonauts play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
