by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson has so many hometown heroes that billboards have been flying up everywhere honoring the 2018 National Championship team.

Add another player to the list as Tee Higgins has been honored by a digital billboard in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Oak Ridge high school has called Friday 'Tee Higgins' Day' to honor their local football hero. The school will retire his No. 5 football jersey tonight during a halftime ceremony of the Oak Ridge Wildcats boys’ basketball game against Campbell County.

Higgins becomes the third jersey number retired in the 76-year history of the program.

The 6-foot-4 playmaker had 59 receptions for 936 yards and 12 touchdowns this past season for Clemson's National title team.

As a high school senior, he had 68 receptions for 1,044 yards and 18 receiving touchdowns. During his junior year, he had 46 receptions for 841 yards and 16 touchdowns. Both seasons he was named Mr. Football in Tennessee at the AAAAA level.
