Former Clemson basketball player Chris Hobbs got his No. 43 jersey retired on Friday for East Chapel Hill high school in North Carolina.

His mother Marry Beth-Hobbs was in attendance to accept the award in his honor. Hobbs passed away in Feb. 2015 at the very young age of 33.

Hobbs' high school basketball coach talked highly of Hobb's personality off of the court. “Chris was a gentle giant” Hartsfield said via The News & Observer. “If you saw him walking down the court, you’d be like ‘Oh my goodness.’ He looked like a bear. He would just intimidate you. But he was the nicest guy you’d ever meet in your life.”

Hobbs scored 961 career points and had 679 career rebounds at Clemson to go with a .528 field goal percentage.
