Former Clemson standout waived by Raptors

The Toronto Raptors announced on Sunday that they have released forward K.J. McDaniels.

McDaniels was signed to a partially-guaranteed one-year deal for $1,524,305 salary with a guaranteed portion of $100,000.

It was McDaniels' fourth different team since entering the NBA draft early in 2014. He played in three preseason games with the Raptors in 2017, totaling six points, five rebounds, and two blocks in 24 minutes. In the regular season, he was inactive for the first two games of the regular season.

McDaniels was drafted in the second round by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014, but was traded after a promising start (9.2 PPG/25.4 MPG) to Houston, where he averaged less than 10 minutes and three points per game over 2.5 seasons.

The former first-team All-ACC selection played with the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 6.3 points in 14.7 minutes.

McDaniels scored 17.1 points a game in his final Clemson campaign, earning ACC defensive player of the year with 2.8 blocks and 1.1 steals.
