by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson defensive back Marcus Gilchrist was released by the Detriot Lions on Saturday as they signed linebacker Steve Longa from their practice squad.

Longa will help them on specials teams for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

Gilchrist has played in 123 games over the last eight seasons, including all 16 regular-season contests over each of the last two years with the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders.

He posted 58 tackles, with three interceptions in 2018 with the Raiders.
