Top Gamecocks receiver likely out for Clemson game |
South Carolina hosts No. 3 Clemson next week at noon and will likely be without its top target.
Senior receiver Bryan Edwards had a knee scope to clean up swelling that held him out last week for Texas A&M and had him miss time in the Appalachian State loss. Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp told reporters he was doubtful for next week. “If he’s unable to go, it’s a huge blow,” Muschamp told reporters. “As a defensive coordinator, Brent Venables would have to account for him. He’d have to make sure he covered down and have somebody on top of him at times." Edwards led the Gamecocks with 816 receiving yards on 71 catches with six touchdowns this season. He has 12 career catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns versus Clemson.
