Swinney hires Alabama's Turnipseed to oversee recruiting |
According to Coachingseach.com, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has hired Thad Turnipseed from Alabama to join the Clemson staff.
Turnipseed is expected to head up recruiting operations for Swinney. According to AL.com, Turnipseed was looking for a way to get back to the football side of things. Jeff Scott is Clemson’s recruiting coordinator. Turnipseed will have management duties that include analyzing and organizing social media and organizing game-day operations. Turnipseed's Alabama Bio: Thad Turnipseed joined the university as Director of Intercollegiate Athletic Capital Projects in October, 2002. He is currently overseeing Alabama's facilities' improvements. Turnipseed coordinates with vendors and project leaders to ensure timely completion of construction projects. Turnipseed earned a B.A. degree in political science in 1995, double-minoring in geology and general business. He was a member of the Crimson Tide football team from 1990-92 and became a student assistant with the team from 93-95 after an injury. Prior to joining the staff at Alabama, Turnipseed was project manager at Beaver Construction from 1995-97, and owner of Calvary Construction and Calvary Flooring from 1997-2003. He sold those businesses to return to the Capstone Turnipseed is married to the former Melissa Nix, and has three daughters: Mallory, Marian and Marlee and a son, Lee, who was born in the fall of 2006.
A source has informed CoachingSearch.com that Alabama director of athletic facilities Thad Turnipseed is heading to Clemson to join Dabo Swinney's staff.
“I was very fortunate. I touched a lot of things,” Turnipseed said. “This is an opportunity to get full time into football, which I’ve been wanting to do. That’s probably where I belong. I’m a football guy at heart. It’s an opportunity with Dabo. It was an opportunity that was hard to turn down.”
