Swinney gives injury updates on Hyatt, Ferrell

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney spoke to reporters after Saturday's scrimmage and updated the injury status of several of his key players.

Offensive tackle Mitch Hyatt missed the scrimmage because of getting hit in the eye with a football during the beginning of Thursday's practice. He is going through the standard concussion protocol, but Swinney said that "he will be fine".

Clelin Ferrell was cleared by the trainers after his concussion this week and played in the scrimmage.

Swinney said the following about Ferrell's injury after Thursday's practice.

"He got a little shaken up the other day, so we put him right into the protocol," Swinney said. "Our trainers do a good job with that stuff."

In 2017, Ferrell had 44 tackles including 12.5 for loss and six sacks.

Tight end Shaddel Bell did not participate in the scrimmage as he is still out with a calf injury.
