New AP poll sets up top-20 Clemson-BC showdown |
While the top-three remain unchanged in Sunday’s AP Poll, some movement throughout the poll set up a top-20 battle for Clemson at Boston College on Saturday.
College GameDay will be in town for the division showdown, where No. 2 Clemson (9-0, 6-0 ACC) can clinch a spot in Charlotte and new No. 17 Boston College (7-2, 4-1) can take a big step toward the same. BC should move up likewise after a debut at No. 22 in last Tuesday's College Football Playoff rankings. The Eagles are coming off of a 31-21 win at Virginia Tech and ride a three-game winning streak. Clemson has won its last four games by five touchdowns or more. Alabama remained the unanimous No. 1 in the poll with Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan and Georgia completing the new top-5. The next major ranking to drop is Tuesday's CFP rankings, which will air around 9 p.m. (between two college basketball games). AP Poll - 11/4 1. Alabama (60 first-place votes) 2. Clemson 3.
