Former Clemson offensive lineman Chris Hairston was placed on the reserve non-football illness list by the Los Angeles Chargers Wednesday, which ends his 2017 season.

The Chargers and Hairston declined to detail specifics, but the San Diego Union-Tribune reported the condition being blood clots, which Hairston hinted to in a recent tweet.

“I’m fine, but I don’t want to talk about it,” Hairston said on his condition, according to the Union-Tribune.

Hairston played over 20 snaps in Sunday's 19-17 home loss to Miami while starter Joe Barksdale was sidelined.

“It stinks,” Barksdale told reporters Wednesday on the Hairston news, “but what doesn’t stink is the fact that Chris is still alive. Sometimes we get so caught up in what’s going on on the field that we forget that people are regular human beings, too. First and foremost, we’re happy he’s OK as a person.”

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn says Hairston's presence around the field will be missed.

“He was more than a swing tackle,” Lynn said. “This guy is a high-character young man who works hard and sets a good example for everybody in that locker room. We’re gonna miss him.”

Hairston played in 31 games with the Buffalo Bills from 2011-14 and 33 games over the last three seasons with the Chargers.
