Clemson athletics finished over 20 spots lower than its place in the
previous two sports seasons in the
2018-19 Directors' Cup.
The ranking awards points for the top scores for 19 sports cumulatively, with baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball among the required competitions to factor in. Olympic sports giant Stanford took the crown for a 25th-straight season by a margin of close to 300 points over Michigan. The ACC had four teams in the top-10 in Florida State (7), Virginia (8), Duke (9) and North Carolina (10). Before finishing 73rd, Clemson was in 44th after the end of the fall designated sports, registering the maximum points after a national title in football (100) and also scoring in women's soccer (25). The other sports that contributed to the points total were men's golf (9th; 69 points), women's basketball (17th; 50), baseball (33rd; 37.5) and women's golf (49th; 23.5). The Tigers finished 52nd in the final standings overall in both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
