Clemson ranked No. 2 in latest AP Poll

by - Staff Writer -

A less-than-chaotic trend at the top-tier of the polls continued going into rivalry weekend for much of the country.

The latest Associated Press Top-25 stayed the same 1-6 for a third-straight week with Alabama then Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia and Oklahoma. Notre Dame (1,412) gained slightly on Clemson (1,455) among AP pollsters, adding six points while Clemson lost four.

Only one top-10 team was upset this week, with previous No. 7 West Virginia falling to Oklahoma State.

In other rankings, Clemson moved to No. 1 in ESPN's Football Power Index metric and stayed No. 2 in the Coaches Poll.

The back half of the 2018 College Football Playoff rankings start Tuesday at 7 p.m. (ESPN), where its top-six has mirrored the same from the AP and Coaches in recent weeks.

Clemson wraps up the regular season this Saturday hosting South Carolina (6-4) at 7 p.m. (ESPN) and then plays the next week in the ACC Championship versus No. 24 Pittsburgh in Charlotte (8 p.m./ABC).
