Clemson ranked No. 2 in AP Poll, receives first-place votes |
Clemson stays at No. 2 with 1,430 points in the
latest Top 25 rankings by the Associated Press on Sunday afternoon. The top five was Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.
The Crimson Tide garnered 54 first-place votes while Clemson received six first-place votes, and Wisconsin was actually given one first-place vote by some voter. With Alabama's No. 1 ranking, they have now topped the weekly poll 106 times which breaks a tie with Ohio State for most all-time appearances. Texas A&M received votes garnering them No. 27 overall. ACC schools in the Top 25 include Clemson (2), Virginia Tech (13), and Miami (21). Boston College (28), Duke (34), North Carolina State (35), and Florida State (41) all were included in the 'Others receiving votes' category. The two teams that dropped out of the polls were overrated SEC teams South Carolina and Florida. Arizona State (23) and Oklahoma State (24) are new teams in the rankings. Clemson started last season ranked No. 5 in the AP Poll and finished No. 4, after taking a No. 1 ranking into the College Football Playoff.
