Clemson junior forward Jonathan Baehre suffered a torn ACL in a Monday workout, Clemson announced in a news release.

“This is an unfortunate injury for our team,” Clemson coach Brad Brownell said. “I hate it for Jonathan for how hard he’s worked this past year. I know he’ll attack his rehab the right way and come back when he’s ready and have a very productive career at Clemson.”

Baehre (6-10 214) and the Tigers are practicing ahead of July's World University Games and Baehre was expected to play a prominent role in the upcoming season.

He sat out last year after a transfer from UNC-Asheville, where he averaged 7.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks as a sophomore.

Baehre is from Germany originally but played his senior year of high school in Irwinton, Georgia, where he picked up All-State honors.

He is set to turn 23 before the 2019-20 season begins. Clemson did not announce a projected timeline for his recovery.
