Brownell concerned with Mitchell's knee

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson head coach Brad Brownell said guard Shelton Mitchell tweaked his knee in the win over Wake Forest on Tuesday night. Before the season, Mitchell suffered a non-contact knee injury in practice and missed the beginning of the season after having a knee procedure.

"Shelton actually kind of tweaked his knee again in the game," Brownell said. "I'm a little concerned about it. He has really fought some things this year. I felt he was kind of coming out of it and his confidence is better. If you watch him walk he walks with a limp. I just think there are some things with that guy he is dealing with that makes it really hard for him. I'm really proud of him because he has really played well the last couple of weeks."

Brownell said the doctors looked at him at halftime but allowed him to continue.

"I hate to see today. He had to come out and trainers and doctors looked at him at halftime," Brownell said. "They said he is fine, but it is bothering him some. He is not going to do any damage. I don't think he had the quite same pop in the second half. We will just have to keep an eye on it."
