Alabama, Clemson lead AP Poll after top-10 favorites hold |
A weekend without a single top-10 team going down meant minimal movement in the latest Associated Press Top 25.
No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson each controlled meetings with top-25 foes this week, No. 3 Notre Dame blew out Florida State (42-13) and No. 4 Michigan throttled Rutgers (42-7). Playoff hopefuls in No. 5 Georgia (27-10 over Auburn) and No. 6 Oklahoma (48-47 over Oklahoma State) had closer affairs. Like the Coaches Poll, the other ACC reps check in at No. 12 (Syracuse) and No. 22 (Boston College). Three of the four teams in the AP top-four in this poll last year finished in the final CFP top-four, with Alabama (1), Clemson (2) and Oklahoma (4). Clemson (5) and Washington (7) made charges from outside the top-4 in 2016 and Oklahoma (7) and Michigan State (9) moved into the CFP in 2015. AP Poll - 11/11 1. Alabama (61 first-place votes) 2.
