ACC assistant coach claims Clemson steals signs |
Athlon Sports released their latest College Football Preview magazine and had an interesting tidbit from an anonymous ACC assistant coach claiming that Clemson steals signs.
“They’ll steal your signals,” the opposing coach said. “People don’t want to talk about it, but the teams that give them fits were NC State and Pitt because they huddled.” The accusation sounds like sour apples by the ACC coach as this past season Clemson went on to win their first National Championship since 1981 and the future appears brighter than ever for the football program. In actuality, one of the main reasons that North Carolina State and Pittsburgh had similar offensive success with Clemson is that Matt Canada was the talented offensive coordinator for the Wolfpack (2015) and Panthers (2016). He employed a similar multiple scheme attack that confused the Tigers' defense on several occasions. Advice for salty football coaches -- If your signs are so vulnerable that any team or support staff can quickly learn it during the contest, that's on your crappy signs.
