Napier Could Be The Top Candidate

by - Correspondent -

After much speculation, it was confirmed on Wednesday that Jack Hines would not be returning. The search for Coach Hines replacement may not be a long one. Tiger Source mentioned Tuesday evening that Billy Napier may be the leading candidate to replace Hines.

We have now confirmed that Napier is the leading candidate to replace Hines. Napier worked as the quarterbacks coach for South Carolina State during 2005 season.

Napier was a graduate assistant at Clemson from 2003-2005 (Spring). Last season while Clemson was trying to fill three coaching vacancies, Napier went on the road recruiting for Clemson. In fact, he played a big role in Clemson landing Antwon Murchison.

If Clemson hires Napier, which we believe will happen, this would be a very nice addition to the staff. Napier has a great football mind, and he is a tireless worker. He would also bring another solid recruiter to the staff.

We will continue to track other possible candidates. At this time, we do not believe Danny Pearman at Virginia Tech is a candidate for the position.
