Mickey,

I hope your Christmas was great and of course all Tiger fans hope for an awesome New Year. From watching Clemson games this year and now from looking at the rosters and stats for Clemson and Ohio State, there is one Clemson player that gets no publicity and he may very well be the most important Clemson player in the bowl.

The good news is that Clemson does not punt often, the bad news is that Ohio State has a terrific defense and gives up less than 300 yards a game, but the worst news is that Andy Teasdall is last in the ACC in average.

I do not like to single out a player because they are all young student athletes which means they, like all of us, have limitations and make mistakes, but clearly, it is very likely that Clemson will have to punt and that makes Andy Teasdall a huge part of the game.

Consider that Andy Teasdall is last in the ACC with a 37.7 yard average and the Ohio State punter, Cameron Johnston, is first in the Big 10 with a 46.2 yard average, then it is easy to see how critical punting can be. Sure, I understand that Teasdall has had shorts punts inside the 20 which hurt the average so let's hope that either that is the case Saturday night, Clemson does not have many punts, or better yet that Teasdall will step up and show up if he is needed.

Andy

Andy,

It is clear punting has struggled this season. I know he is doing the best he can, but he is just not a great punter. I wouldn't mind seeing him rugby punt more like he did against Alabama last season. I am not sure what else they can do. The good news is the Tigers have not given up many punt return yards. Lol. Hope it is not a huge factor Saturday night.

Mickey,

Hope that you feel better. Are there going to be a lot more Ohio State fans in Arizona? Thanks!

David

David,

I was feeling bad this week due to a cold but hope to feel better soon. My guess is that OSU will have significantly more fans that Clemson at the game Saturday. They are a bigger school with a huge alumni base. I am told they have a big alumni base in Arizona due to it being a retirement destination. Remember Ohio State didn't have to travel to a conference title game and Clemson fans had to pay for a trip to Orlando. This has been a huge financial concern for many fans. They were both there last year but Clemson fans also had to travel an extra game to Miami last year also. I would be surprised if the stadium is full and if Clemson has close to the number of fans there that OSU will bring.
