Clemson Defeats Furman in Men's Soccer, 3-2

second-seed Clemson to a 3-2 win over Furman in the first round of the NCAA

Men's Soccer tournament at Clemson's Historic Riggs Field Sunday afternoon.

Lewis also had an assist in the game.

Webster threw a long ball into the box where Oguchi Onyewu, waiting at the

18-yard box, flicks to Lewis. Lewis one touches the flick into the back

of the net from six yards out.

Clemson improves its record to 14-3-2 overall, while Furman ends its season

with a 17-4-2 record.

Furman took a 1-0 lead midway in the first half. Matt Goldsmith scored

on an assist by McNeil Cronin at the 22:44 mark.

Clemson scored two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 lead early in the second

half. Mark Lisi scored on a direct kick just outside the penalty box with

56:12 gone in the match.

Steven Rhyne scored at the 63:44 mark in a one-on-one breakaway. He

scored on a diagonal shot from 12 yards out. Ian Fuller and Lewis were

credited with the assists. Furman tied the score 2-2 at the 65:38 point as

Patrick Tanner scored on an assist by Cronin.

Clemson will play Connecticut on November 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Clemson's

Riggs Field.
