Tiger Source: Spiller Signs with Clemson

by - Correspondent -

CLEMSON -- For many years, Clemson has watched the top prospect in South Carolina signed with a Florida school on Signing Day. Today, Clemson took a matter of sweet revenge.

CJ Spiller had narrowed his options to Clemson, Florida, and Florida State. Spiller was a lifelong Seminole fan, and he lived 30 miles outside of Gainesville.

In one of the classiest Signing Day announcements ever, Spiller made his decision.

"In the fall of 2006, I will attend Clemson University."

Spiller was very gracious to Florida and Florida State, and he could not hold back his emotion, when talking about his family. It was obvious to all who heard the press conference that Clemson picked a great player and a great person.

Clemson now has put together a potentially very dangerous backfield. The big selling point to Spiller was the chance to be college football's next thunder and lightning with James Davis.

Several people have already said that Davis was very influential in recruiting Spiller. Davis showcased unselfishness that should endear him to Clemson fans even more than his ACC Rookie of the Year campaign.

The two have already became good friends and have been trading text messages daily.

We will have more on Spiller's decision this evening.
