Tiger Source Preview: Clemson Coaches At The Beach

by -

Monday and Tuesday of this week Clemson has sent several assistant coaches to Myrtle Beach, SC for the North-South All-Star game. This year will not be as important to the staff as some years for a couple of reasons. First they are almost full in this class with 22 current commitments. Also, unlike some years the Shrine Bowl selection committee did a great job of taking most of the top prospects for the Shrine Bowl game next week. Currently 13 players on the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team have committed to D-I schools. Sixteen players from the North Carolina squad have made commitments.

There are a few stories to follow at Myrtle Beach this week. Perhaps the most important will be the evaluation of North Charleston defensive lineman Jarrel King. King is 6-6 and 270 pounds and has very long arms. He is a good student who participated at Boys State this past summer. Several members of the Clemson and USC staffs love King's upside. Both have offered but the Tigers may up the pressure if he looks as impressive on the field as he does on film.

The Tigers will also keep a close eye on sign-and-place running back Travil Jamison of Greenville.

Clemson commitment Jamrcus Grant is one of the top prospects at this game along with USC commitment Bobby Wallace and WF commitment Channing Schofield.

For those interested in attending the game it is scheduled for Saturday at noon but has moved venues this season. This year's contest will be held at the new stadium at Coastal Carolina.
