Clemson quarterback Kyle Parker missed the last of two-a-day practices on Monday in order to be with his family as the deadline for signing with the Colorado Rockies approached Monday night, and the Rockies and Parker put the time to good use as the sides reached agreement on a deal for $1.4 million, according to Baseball America.

Parker was the No. 26 overall pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball draft this past June, and the sides failed to reach an agreement on the Parkers’ self-imposed deadline of June 20th, and on that date, Parker decided to return to Clemson for at least one more season to play football when reported demands of a $3 million contract were not met.

In addition to missing Monday’s evening practice, Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney has excused Parker from Tuesday’s scrimmage in Death Valley, telling the media on Monday that Parker still needed to find a place to live in Clemson and “a bank.”

Parker is the only athlete in Division I college sports history to throw 20 touchdown passes on the gridiron and hit 20 home runs on the baseball diamond in the same academic year.

He batted .344 this season with a team-high 20 homers and 64 RBIs this past season in baseball, and led the Tiger football team to its first-ever Atlantic Division title in 2009.
