. Quarterback. Clemson commitment.

Recruiter?

It didn’t take long for Clemson’s newest quarterback commitment to realize that he wanted to be a part of building something special in Clemson, and he told TigerNet following his commitment that he already can’t wait to get on campus.

“I think about that every minute now,” Kelly said. “I’m just sitting at the computer trying to get more recruits to come to Clemson. Just thinking about how close it is, I just want to be on campus right now. I had that good of a time there, and I can’t wait to get back.

“It was a family-type atmosphere at Clemson, and that’s what really stood out. I know the players that commit to there are the family-type atmosphere players, too. They know who you are and you know who they are. They just want to be the best that they can be. All we have to do now is keep our eye on trying to get these other guys to get on board now.”

He said that he believes that Morris’ offense will make a difference this season and beyond.

“I totally believe that,” he said. “Just the way he had his offense going last year- they had over 500 yards of total offense per game last year. That was at Tulsa, with the very least amount of resources. Now with the weapons that he has this year, next year and the year after that- the quarterback, the wide receivers, the running back- we can do a lot of damage. That’s the type of offense you want to be in. That’s the type of offense that the Heisman voters are looking for.”

Kelly said that he has developed a strong friendship with current starter Tajh Boyd, and when he arrives on campus he just wants to do whatever it takes to help his team win.

“I feel like I can be in the starting role in the next three years,” he said. “I hung out with Tajh and Quandon [Christian] and they are awesome guys. I can’t wait to just learn from them. All I see are good things. I see a championship within the next three years with all of the talent we have coming in and my class that is coming- I truly believe it. The coaching staff they have is one of a kind. Everybody will see and we will open up some eyes.”

His relationship with Morris is also something that had an impact on his decision.

“He’s awesome. He’s not too hard on you and he’s not too soft on you,” Kelly said. “That’s what I like about him. He’s always trying to pick you up, too. He’s always trying to make you better. I talked to him about the classroom and he gets really hyper over that as well. That’s the type of coaches that I like to work with.”

Now that his commitment is out of the way, he said he can concentrate on making his high school team better and getting better as a quarterback.

But that doesn’t mean he won’t be looking into the future.

“I knew Clemson was the place for me from the first visit I took,” he said. “That was the best visit, and then this week’s visit topped it off. You can’t ask for a better place and family atmosphere than what Clemson is. It was always in my heart that I wanted to go there. It’s special.”

“It’s special. You have people watching,” he said. “People knew who he was, and I’m sure people knew who I was, too. We knew we had to go out and show people that in the future we are going to be doing some good things. I can’t wait to work with the type of athletes that we have coming in.”
