Javis Austin Suffers Gunshot Wound to Face

CLEMSON, SC -- According to news sources, Clemson football running back, Javis Austin,

suffered a self inflicted gunshot wound to the face Wednesday evening. He has lost the use of

his right eye and is in surgery as of 11:30PM EST to save the other eye.

He is in critical, but stable condition at Anderson Memorial Hospital, but the

injuries are not thought to be life threatening. Also according to the Anderson County Central Dispatch Austin himself dialed 911 around 6pm EST.

The 21-year-old junior is a two-time letterman for Clemson

but has been little used this year. Going into the Clemson's last game

against South Carolina he only had 36 carries for 120 yards for the season.

UPDATE: At 1:25 AM, Austin was still undergoing surgery according to the Nursing Supervisor at Anderson Memorial Hospital. His condition remains critical, but stable.
