ACC Committee Meets on ACC Football Championship Game |
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A sub-committee of the league’s Athletics Directors met this afternoon with the conference office staff in Greensboro to begin the analysis of proposals received from the cities of Baltimore, Md., Charlotte, N.C., Jacksonville, Fla., Miami, Fla., Orlando, Fla., Tampa, Fla., and Washington, D.C. The sub-committee was comprised of Terry Don Phillips, Clemson; Dave Hart, Florida State; Lee Fowler, NC State and Ron Wellman, Wake Forest. Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford comments on the site selection process for the 2005 ACC Football Championship game.
“We’re fortunate to have a number of cities in our geographic footprint that are capable of doing a superb job of hosting the ACC Football Championship Game and we are extremely pleased with the enthusiasm and commitment that these cities have expressed with their responses to potentially hosting this game. The group will be requesting some additional information from the cities. Ultimately, the sub-committee’s recommendation will go before the league’s Athletics Directors and Faculty Representatives for a final decision. We anticipate having a final decision no later than early fall, which will allow the chosen site well over a year to prepare.”
