Shyatt's Top 10 Recruiting Class Now Complete |
CLEMSON -- The last of five Clemson University basketball recruits has
officially joined the fold. Sherrod Ford, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward from Acokeek, Md., surpassed the minimum standard on his SAT and is now qualified to enroll at Clemson University, head coach Larry Shyatt said Tuesday. “We were confident all along that all five of these young men would be here, and now Sherrod is ready to go,” Shyatt said. “He’ll be on campus Thursday.” Ford’s qualifying score allows him to join what many experts consider to be a national top 10 recruiting class this fall at Clemson. Already qualified were Olu Babalola (6-6, 245) from London, England; Chey Christie (6-4, 170) from Biloxi, Miss.; Steve Allen (6-10) from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Jemere Hendrix (6-8, 215) from Covington, Ga. Babalola and Hendrix already are on campus preparing for summer school, Shyatt said. Christie and Allen had later high school graduation dates and are expected to joint the others in the near future. NOTES - Will Solomon and Adam Allenspach are in Chicago this week for the NBA’s pre-draft camp. Solomon, who declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft on June 27, has not hired an agent and has until June 20 to change his mind. Allenspach was a late edition to the camp, which is considered one of the prime stages for potential NBA draftees to showcase their talent. - Clemson assistant coach Darren Tillis is one of the few college coaches working the NBA Draft Camp this week. - Larry Shyatt will offer a special basketball Day camp for parents and their children this Saturday, June 9 at Littlejohn Coliseum. The day will begin with registration at Littlejohn Coliseum from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Gate 8. The day's activities will conclude by 5:00 PM. The schedule of events includes basketball drills, games and other activities that allow parents and their children to interact in a basketball setting. "This is an excellent opportunity to spend a day with your child or grandchild," said Shyatt. "We invite the family to come to Littlejohn Coliseum and work with us and share our Passion to Improve!"
