Deacs Blow Out Tigers, 96-55

by -

WINSTON-SALEM - Clemson's trip back to reality was rougher than anyone expected. After back to back ACC wins Clemson found itself down by over 20 in the first half at Wake Forest. Unfortunately for the Tigers the second half was not any better as the Demon Demons won their seventh consecutive game over the Tigers in a 96-55 rout.

Clemson (11-6, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) only trailed 14 to 16 at the 15 minute mark in the first half but a 17-0 run by Wake Forest (13-3, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) put the Tigers down 33-14. A layup by Ray Henderson finally broke the scoring slump, but the Tigers would trail 53 to 27 at the half.

For the game Clemson shot just 32% from field for the game and an anemic 22% on 18 free throws.

The Tigers were led by Jamar McKinght with 13 while freshman Sharrod Ford added 11. Antwan Scott led Wake with 17 points, forward Josh Howard scored 16, and Darius Songaila had 14.

The Tigers will try to regroup at home on Tuesday against NC State.
