Clemson to Play Host to NCAA Regional

by -

Clemson, SC-Clemson was one of 16 institutions chosen to play host to
the NCAA baseball tournament on Sunday afternoon. Clemson will play
host to the Clemson Regional, which will begin Friday, June 3. The
other three schools who will come to Clemson will be announced on Monday at 11:30 AM on ESPN2.

The other schools that will play host to regionals are Arizona State, Baylor, Cal State Fullerton, Florida, Florida State,
Georgia Tech, LSU, Long Beach State, Miami (FL), Mississippi,
Nebraska, Oregon State, Tennessee, Texas and Tulane. Clemson was
one of four ACC schools to play host to a regional. The ACC and the SEC each had four schools receive host bids on Sunday.

"We are very excited to be playing host to a regional," said Head Coach Jack Leggett. " I feel good about the way we played the second half of the season and I feel we deserve to play host to a regional. Playing host to a regional makes a difference because you would rather be at home than on the road. But, you still have to win the games on the field and I know some outstanding teams will be coming to Clemson."

The Clemson Regional will include two games each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and a Monday game (June 6) if necessary. It is a double elimination tournament. Exact game times will be announced on Monday, but each of the first three days of the tournament will have an afternoon game and a night game.

Reserved seat all-tournament tickets are priced at $70.
Clemson season ticket holders will have the first bid on these reserved seats and will have the ability to reserve the same seats they had during the regular season.

Reserved seats on a single game basis are priced at $12, while single game general admission seats are $8. The general admission seats will be available on the day of the game only. For more ticket information call 1-800-CLEMSON.

Parking areas will be the same used during the regular season. Fans are encouraged to par in Lot 4 (Jervey Meadows behind Kingsmore Stadium) and Lot 5 (West endzone are at Clemson Memorial Stadium).

This will be the 10th time Clemson has played host to the NCAA baseball tournament, the eighth time under Head Coach Jack Leggett. Clemson has an all-time record of 27-7 in home NCAA Tournament games, including a 24-5 record under Leggett. Clemson has won 13 of its last 14 home NCAA Tournament games and each of the last five times Clemson has advanced to the College World Series, Clemson clinched the bid with a home victory.

Overall, this is Clemson's 31st appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the sixth highest total in NCAA history. It marks the 19th consecutive year Clemson has been invited to an NCAA Regional, tied for the third longest streak in NCAA history. Oklahoma State had a streak of 19 years in a row in a regional between 1981-99.

Miami (FL) and Florida State are the only schools with a streak longer than Clemson's current streak in NCAA baseball history,
