by -

Athens, GA- Clemson scored five runs in the first four innings and claimed a 6-2 victory over Georgia on Tuesday night at Foley Field in Athens. For the Tigers, it marked the first time since 1999 that Clemson won in Athens. The win improved Clemson's record to 13-10, while dropping Georgia to 16-9.

Kris Harvey upped his record to 5-0 after setting a career high with 7.0 innings pitched and tying a career high with seven strikeouts. He scattered seven hits and gave up only two runs, while working out of several jams. Patrick Hogan recorded his fifth save after breezing through the final two innings. The two combined for 10 strikeouts in the contest for Clemson. David Timm (1-1) got the loss for Georgia.

Brad McCann led the Tiger offense with a 3-4 performance. McCann, who originally signed with Georgia out of high school, is now 8-12 in three career games against the Bulldogs. Herman Demmink was solid with two hits and two runs scored.

Clemson started the game with three straight hits, the last of which was an RBI double by McCann. His shot to the left field wall gave the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. However, with one out and two on, Bulldog centerfielder Kyle Keen made a diving catch on a fly ball from Brady Everett and then doubled up McCann at second base to end the threat. Everett was credited with a sacrifice fly, scoring Russell Triplett from third.

The Tigers followed with a run in the second after Ryan Hub hit his first homer of the season, but Georgia put up two runs in the bottom of the frame off of three hard-hit balls. Clemson extended the lead to 5-2 after four innings of play. Demmink reached on an error in the third, then was driven in by McCann's second double and RBI of the game. In the fourth, John Ingram singled and then reached third base on a fielding error by Georgia's rightfielder. He then scored on a wild pitch from Bulldog starter Timm.

After going hitless for four innings, Clemson finally got another run in the ninth. After a leadoff walk to Tony Sipp, second baseman Demmink ripped a double down the left field line to plate the Tigers' sixth run of the ballgame.

These two teams play Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson. The game will be televised live by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast.
