at right tackle.

However, Morris indicated that Giff Timothy – projected to be the starter at right tackle – is progressing from surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee and isn’t being ruled out.

“We should have him back,” Morris said. “He’s worked out a little bit. He’s slowly getting back. We’re excited about getting Giff back. It’ll give us some depth right there. But, I think he’s got to be able to go by next Monday. At that point, it’ll be our evaluation, to see if he’s capable of making his footwork and where he is, from a mental standpoint - if he can’t go next Monday and Tuesday, I don’t think he’ll play.”

Timothy said that he was working in a green jersey today – no contact – but that he and trainer Danny Poole have put together a plan that has him working against the defense by this Thursday.

for the number two spot. However, Morris said that Kelly isn’t making the decision an easy one.

“Hopefully, we can hold Chad as long as we can,” Morris said. “He’s definitely making a strong push to find his way in.”

, and whether Battle will be able to contribute much this season. Morris answered that Battle is still a work in progress.

“Is he going to play? He has to,” Morris said of Battle. “He is going to get in there at left tackle, but does that mean he is going to play 10 snaps a game? Probably not. We just have to keep working on getting him better.”
