ESPN analysts split on Clemson ranking |
This weekend’s college football games mean some movement in the polls, but maybe not for Clemson.
In ESPN’s College Football Final show, Jesse Palmer didn’t move Clemson from their No. 4 position after a 31-14 win over Florida State – instead, vaulting undefeated ACC foe Miami to No. 3 after their 41-8 home win over Notre Dame and slotting Oklahoma up to No. 2 after a 38-20 win over TCU. “(Clemson) didn’t dominate Florida State the way the score may indicate in that game and I have question marks about Kelly Bryant going forward throwing the ball deep down the field,” Palmer said. “They’re not as explosive as they were a year ago throwing it with Deshaun Watson. That’s understandable. "Bottom-line, they still have one of the best defenses in the country.” Joey Galloway still believes Clemson is the ACC’s best, ranking the Tigers No. 3, behind Alabama and Oklahoma at the top. “I agree with Jesse. The score was a little different than it was actually played,” Galloway said, “but they got the win. Kelly Bryant is healthy and his running game makes everything go. The defense was a little shaky at times, but they got the win.” Galloway top-five: 5. Wisconsin 4. Miami 3. Clemson 2. Oklahoma 1. Alabama Palmer top-five: 5. Wisconsin 4. Clemson 3. Miami 2.
