Four Tigers in McShay's Way-too-early 2020 NFL Mock Draft

My daily work at Tigernet.com usually starts with some coffee (cream and sugar) and summarizing endless NFL mock drafts that are filled with talented Clemson stars. Today's version comes from ESPN's Todd McShay who has released his way-too-early first-round projections for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Slow down Todd you got plenty of time on these.

Anyways, an impressive four Clemson players were projected in the first 32 picks with OLB/S Isaiah Simmons, CB A.J. Terrell, RB Travis Etienne, and WR Tee Higgins.

Simmons was projected No. 13 overall to the Oakland Raiders (AKA Clemson Raiders) and was the first linebacker chosen.

"Jon Gruden continues to rebuild with early picks, thanks to this apparent regression by the Bears," he said. "A converted safety, Simmons is all over the field for Clemson. He made nine tackles in the national title game in January. On the season, Simmons made 89 tackles, including 9.5 for loss, and had 1.5 sacks and three forced fumbles."

Two picks later, Terrell comes off the board with pick No. 15 by the Carolina Panthers and the second cornerback selected behind only Florida's C.J. Henderson (11).

"Terrell hauled in three picks for the Tigers in 2018, and he took one to the house," he said. "Ross Cockrell and James Bradberry are both scheduled to be free agents after the 2019 season."

Etienne was projected at No. 23 pick to the Detroit Lions and the first running back chosen.

"By the time you finish reading this sentence, Etienne will have scored three touchdowns," he said. "He popped off 24 of them last season while rushing for 1,658 yards. Pairing him with Kerryon Johnson, the Lions' run game could do some damage."

Higgins not to be forgotten was projected at No. 27 to the Green Bay Packers.

"Aaron Rodgers still needs help," he said. "And this 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver might be an answer. He had 59 catches for 936 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2018."
