Clemson pro Trevor Lawrence ranked at top of best young NFL players |
Trevor Lawrence is regarded as one of the top young talents in the NFL.
Pro Football Focus ranked him as the No. 3 player under the age of 25. "Many might call Lawrence’s 2023 season a disappointment, especially considering preseason expectations," PFF's Zoltán Buday said. "However, he earned the highest overall grade of his career in 2023 and, during the first part of the season, demonstrated why the Jaguars selected him with the first-overall pick three years ago. Lawrence's 88.1 overall grade after 13 weeks last year ranked fifth among quarterbacks." He finished with a 79.7 PFF grade after throwing 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in a stepback year-to-year in dropbacks due to injury (733 to 645). He improved his grade as a passer year-to-year (74.1 to 78.6) with the same amount of big-time throws in the fewer dropbacks (35). Lawrence also dropped his turnover-worthy plays percentage (3.8% to 3%). He has thrown 58 career touchdown passes in the regular season to 39 interceptions, taking an average of 1.9 sacks per game (2.2 per last season). Lawrence has also punched in 11 rushing scores. Lawrence is reportedly in line for an extension soon worth more than $50 million per year. Detroit lineman Penei Sewell leads the top under-25 list.
