Thought the addition of the Noles was a huge bonus, wishing Swofford had been more aggressive recruiting other programs.
Say what you want, but the chatter about FSU has been good for the ACC, which darn-well better get its act together in regards to the SEC and B1G. I'm thinking Clemson and FSU need to act in tandem, becoming a package deal either in the ACC or elsewhere.

Well, I can't speak for others, but here is my spin: First,FSU may not have been my 2nd favorite ACC team, but I always respected Bobby Bowden as a coach. He also brought the ACC some respectability in the 1990's, and he forced many ACC schools to improve their support to football in order to compete with the dominance that FSU had in the first 15 or so years in the ACC.
However, since Bowden retired, my respect for the program went down immensely. First, Jimbo Fisher may have once been a good coach, but he lacked accountability in monitoring his players' off-the-field activities. Also, before Jimbo left for Texas A&M, the FSU administration did not support his various initiatives to compete with the emerging Clemson program. Since then, some of their coaching choices and lack of accountability in disciplining their players' activities left a lot to be desired.
Additionally, FSU's internal COVID protocols and lack of repaying Clemson expenses when they suddenly cancelled their game with us after we had arrived in Tallahassee left an extremely bad taste in my mouth in 2020. While I don't "hate" FSU, I certainly don't currently admire their program on several accounts,

Good summary. I would add that FSU fans on socials act like it is still the 90s in terms of their team being elite.
I also liked the Dallas Cowboys when Tom Landry was the HC but have no use for them now.

I think you’re mainly directing it towards me. I’ve never hated FSU but this past offseason I’ve gotten fed up with 2 things. And I’ve made it clear in many different threads.
1. They are nonstop mouthing off publicly about conference realignment. They are one of the main reasons the ACC is in this predicament. You see very little coming out of Clemson on the matter, but you can bet behind the scenes our administration is putting in just as much work as FSU.
2. We’re back. This preaseason top 5 crap is out of hand. I don’t see anything special about Jordan Travis. He’s good but not special. I also see right through their 10 win season. Nothing special there either. The Noles struggled to beat Florida and Oklahoma to end the season. Those 2 teams were a combined 12-14, but everyone acts as if FSU beat traditional Florida and OU teams. Preseason top 15 or 20 sure. Yes I’m sick of the FSU hype.

You're right, hardly a peep from Neff while FSU is persisitent and clearly unwavering in their stance that (an exit is the only real option) which I applaud them for doing so. We should be leading the effort but clearly the leadership above CDS is not up to the task. I guess if we are able to escape the endentured servitude of the ACC somewhat unscathed, it'll be in large part due to their(FSU's) relentless effort to continuously press the issue and keep it in the headlines.
One thing I do despise about them is the large number of "front runner types" in their fanbase. Many of which are the "special" kind of front runner that will publically brag they are Duke fans in basketball & FSU in football. Public displaying this level of stupidity and lack self-awareness should be met with extreme prejudice and sterilization—

Go back through all the conference switches and you barely heard a peep until it happened. No mouth out of OU or Texas. No mouth out of USC or UCLA.

I think it is fantastic that FSU is on the way back and the continued avalanche of press coverage for them only helps promote the ACC and Clemson. We need FSU to be a national power again. I think the thing that upsets people is that the media is crowning them king again when they have not yet proven to be be a prince. They have not won a division, etc. in ages, yet the media is suddenly proclaiming Norvell King of the Hill and their QB a sure fire Heisman Candidate. That's what irks people. Norvell is a great coach, no question about it. He runs rings around most every coach in the country and has done his best to rebuild the dumpster fire that Jimbo Fisher/Willie Taggart left him. However, the media is premature in anointing him the next coming of Bobby Bowden. You gotta do it first. Then get the crowns. That is what upsets people.

I always liked Bobby Bowden but that puntrooski game was one of the most devastating games I’ve ever experienced as a Clemson fan. I have NEVER liked FSU and really still don’t but I don’t hate them like I do Georgia or South Carolina. I was REALLY pissed off when the game was called off in 2020 at the last minute. Clemson lost so much money because of that. That was a jacka$$ move by them

I don’t “hate” FSU. I see them as our equal historically and have even been called an FSU fan on this board for combating some of the nonsense homerism on here. With that said, I think most of us don’t want to hear how FSU is taking over the conference or better than us all the sudden. The hype for this season is excessive and the ACC runs through Clemson until proven otherwise.

We always watched Clemson & FSU together once they joined the ACC, I took a beating until Tommy got the best of his daddy. He got cancer & died at the last of 2017 so he missed a lot games that we won lol.
He was an awesome God loving example of loving all people, he hated the idea of war of any kind too.
I have a lot of respect for FSU because of the kind of fan he was to all fan bases.
