My heart sank. I'd missed the injury with the boot pic. Hopefully he heals up fast. Afraid he'll get labeled injury prone and it'll be hard unless he can see the field, show out, and prove he can stay healthy. Darn, I hate to hear this.

Man, I’d like some surgeries to clean up some old joints

So I can do some more calisthenics.
Here’s to a quick recovery, JR8!

Calisthenics? Is that still a thing? I thought it was outlawed in the early 1980s.

Amari, Ross, Ladson, Ngata, Spector, EJ, Will Taylor, Adam Randall…
It’s crazy how all of them, in consecutive recruiting classes, have either had a major injury, or a multitude of injuries.
I believe that these dudes can be special if only they can stay healthy. We have been getting so unlucky with WR injuries lately. It’s seriously every year now.

Too many injuries to be coincidental. NFL WR's back in the day were getting their heads ripped off by Mel Blount, Jack Tatum, George Atkinson, Ronnie Lott, Ed Reed and more and not suffering near the injuries which Clemson WR's experience ... something is wrong.

Unfortunate for sure, but I think it is caused by …

… the turf and surface in the indoor facility.
I played soccer at Clemson many years ago and played on club teams afterward and I’ve seen many more injuries on turf than on natural grass.
While I believe the ground is packed tighter under turf, the main reason is that turf is tacky and does not give, so when a player plants his foot and cuts, the torque of that cut on gripping turf can cause injury to the weakest structures to that dynamic … which are the player’s joints.
On natural grass, the same movement causes the grass and ground to give slightly and get a little chewed up, sparing the constant stress on the joints (which can cause micro tears to tendons and ligaments.)
IMO, practicing on that hard, gripping surface day after day eventually takes a toll on the joints and makes a player more susceptible to serious injury.

I think you may be on to something. In the Air Force I played in an indoor league on turf. I consistently sprained ankles on turf. In my last season I had a serious groin injury. I also played on grass for a season and had no lower limb injuries all season. Coincidence..?

Two Atlanta United players

Who have played for the US National team … are now recovering from a torn Achilles tendon from a non-contact injury this season - Brad Guzan and Miles Robinson … they both have been playing their home games at Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta for several years… an indoor turf field.
Coincidence??

Dabo needs to see to it that the indoor facility is equipped with natural turf on a transport system as in Phoenix and come up with an innovative way to turn the facility into a greenhouse as needed to keep the grass active during colder weather.

From what I'm being told by a couple people inside the Clemson program is Justin has been guaranteed a roster spot and this procedure is to firm up his previous injury. They liked what they saw on the field but on the scans they have opinions that can strengthen his durability or longevity. I Don't think Justin would have agreed to optional surgery otherwise but I guess we will see in the coming months. JR8 NOTHING BUT LOVE BRO. GO TIGERS!!!

Interesting. We knew he had surgery late last season and was able to do the rookie mini camp, so like you say if the plan was to reserve a spot on the practice squad they may as well get the foot repaired now vs. later if they saw something that could be improved.

Well, as an UDFA, ir would've been easy to just cut him (i.e., very little cash on the line). They chose to try and improve his foot. They seem like they're willing to be patient.

They know they got first round talent for peanuts if they can get him healthy.
Justyn will always be a great “what might have been” for Clemson fans.
Hope he can put it all together in the NFL.

I really don’t think he was a “what could have been”, he was amazing as a freshman and really good as a sophomore. Would have had a great junior year had he played with Trevor and not been born with the spinal issue. I think we got a great ROI on him.

Tough luck Justyn!
I really hope his potential keeps giving teams cause to bring him in and give him a shot. He has all the tools to be a T.O or Dez Bryant or Keenan Allen. The kid can ball; he just needs to shake the injury bug!
Praying he makes a speedy recovery!

on the roster. It would be a cosmic injustice if he doesn't get a chance to show what he can do in the NFL.
