NIL... You Wanted it, You Got it.

My thoughts on NIL are this: 1st off it is detrimental to college sports as well as the student athletes. When NIL was first being sold to the public, it was about the athlete getting a cut of jersey sales or other memorabilia sales using their NIL on them. As innocent as that sounds, all it does is open the door to any and everything else. They may say there are rules governing NIL, who really follows them? Whoever has the most money in their alumni is going to buy the better athletes, period. College sports is no longer about getting a free education, the best training facilities on Earth, the best food and healthcare, and living the college experience, all while playing the game you love on national TV to showcase your talents. No, now with NIL, the athletes have come to just expect all of that as well as a boatload of money just for showing up. Well... all of you that said the athletes are entitled to a cut of jersey sales have gotten what you wanted and then some. As bad as the NCAA rules enforcement division may have been, at least they had rules they stood by and enforced. Today there are no rules and the wealthiest colleges are taking advantage of buying and selling athletes. These are 17-23 year olds being taken advantage of by cash from the wealthy. Kind of sounds like prostitution to me. I don't know... these are just the rumblings of a 61 year old who knows what happens when rules are abandoned... chaos ensues. Well, you wanted it, you got it.

So I am also 61 and have a total different outlook than you do. Everyone without blinders on know this is a job that they are being paid for. You telling me that you wouldn’t change places of employment if someone else came along and offered you double your salary? Same in the sport’s world. There will be maybe 20 teams that can compete for championships under the current situation. Hopefully Clemson will be one of the 20

You're throwing the no rules transfer policy in their as well. That combined with NIL is leaving many with no place to play and no education to fall back on. The stars will get picked up. Many of the others won't.

Huge difference.... These are schools, not a minor league NFL. School presidents can take control of this if they really want to do so.

keep the money except the athletes are doing the hard work.
There is no justification for the Coaches, Networks, and Schools all partaking in this "sport that is about getting a free education" and taking home a fat paycheck.
Why aren't the coaches happy to get some good food, a dorm, and the ability to attend the school for free?
We all love capitalism until it comes to college sports for some reason.
