you could have caught on to flirting better in high school/college.

And I know there are some high numbers here because most of you are engineers.

Biggest one that hurts to this day looking back on was the time I went to the girl's house to watch the Clemson game expecting my buddy to come over as well (we were all friends). Did some time in Pensacola at the tail end of my high school days. Ended up having to finish at the 'adult high school' for pregnant girls and dropouts because I got there too late for enrollment at the schools for humans. Met a girl there that was trying to graduate sooner. She was a literal preachers daughter and she invited me to go to church with her about a dozen times. The pentecostal thing was new to me and I hadn't experienced people speaking in tongues but I went with it because she was cute. I knew she had a boyfriend so I figured I was firmly in the friend zone, yet she always invited me to hang out with her alone in her room each evening after church. One day after church we were in her room and she told me about how she had just lost her virginity with her boyfriend. In my head I thought, 'Cool Story, Bro' but then the next thing out of her mouth didn't register. She actually said, "He is the only person I have been with, and I can't stop thinking about what it's like with someone else." Had an awkward conversation and ended the night with a hug. About a week later she asked me if she could have dinner at my house and meet my Mom. I cooked dinner for her and then after she asked me to show her my room. She made sure to comment on how comfortable my bed was - and still nothing happened. I would say a good 5 years passed before I realized I could have had her at least half a dozen times. She went on to become a lively one on one of those CMT reality shows.

Met a girl at one of my buddies birthday parties, the kind you see in movies like Project X. She was a cheerleader from one of the local high schools that had enough of a reputation that the preacher's daughter would shid on me when she heard I was talking to her. This girl would text me about her favorite positions and ask when she could come over. Didn't want it to get back to preacher's daughter. She pulled me into the bathroom a couple times at another party a couple weeks later. As the night went on she got more inebriated and her friend must have noticed that I was moving too slow (or more likely, she complained to her about me) and told me to take her home. She told me she wanted to go to my house. Being such a great gentlemen, I told her I couldn't because I promised said friend that I would get her home safe. We got about halfway through town on the way to her house and she blew chunks all over the inside of my Jeep. She was too embarrassed after that to give me another crack at it. Looked her up a while back - she blew up like a beached whale after high school, but she was an absolute dime senior year.

A couple years later I was working on restoring my Jeep with my uncle and staying at his house in Orangeburg County. One of my cousin's friends had a girlfriend that enjoyed flirting with me pretty hard. Had some intense makeout sessions while my cousin and her boyfriend were out - her guy was an idiot but I still felt bad. I recall one time she had me finger her in the back seat while her boyfriend rode shotgun next to my cousin. She developed a serious crush and would often text me pigs and make explicit profferings. She ended up dumping the guy a couple of weeks after I left the area, but I just felt too guilty to do anything more.

While I was staying with the same uncle from above, his daughter had a friend move in as a roommate. She was a Hooter's waitress, tiny little thing barely over 5 feet, and the cuter half of a pair of identical twins. She also had an on and off boyfriend. However, she was constantly sending misunderstood signals and complimenting my physical attributes. She knew that I was not partaking in the devil's lettuce as I was preparing to join the Navy, yet she always invited me to go back to my Uncle's shop when she smoked - the shop was set back about 100 yards from the house. Dozens of sessions in that shop with missed signals. One day, she went to see her estranged Dad and asked me to go with her. Her Dad and I hit it off and a few hours later when we left she pulled her truck off on the side of a county road and gave me the look. We sat there for what felt like a few moments before I asked her if she wanted me to drive. She shook her head and continued driving - pretty sure that was the last time she hit on me and she moved out the next week.

After boot camp, I went to Connecticut for follow on training. The first week I met a girl working at the store on base and I liked the way she was looking at me so I got her number. Texted her for a while and then realized her dad was one of the Master Chiefs that worked above me. Figured it wasn't worth the trouble and ended things. Couple of buddies asked about her and then went on to some very easy and positive results by all accounts. I ended up meeting up with her again at a bar in town and she asked me to go home with her and her roommate. I told her I needed to make sure my buddies got back to base safe - stupid. Roommate was even better looking than her.

At another bar in CT, I met a petite blonde that worked in the shipyard. She latched on to me and practically begged me to go home with her but I was weirded out that she was living with her aunt that was at the bar with her (Never mind, I had just been living with my uncle the year before). Looking back, she was probably a touch freaky. Also, aunt was hot for her age, and I probably could have played musical rooms on that one. These days I would put her in the 'wood dew' category 9/10 times.

Countless girls my girl cousins introduced me to. 'My friend has been wanting to meet you - Here is said friend in their favorite low cut shirt...' Truly stupid to think about some of those situations and how oblivious I was.

There are a few instances in Guam and Singapore that I would definitely take back. It was fun at the time but it makes me feel a little cheap. Also, when you spend all your money in the floor where all the oriental women are, only to find out that there is another floor full of Australian and Russian wimmens, it can be quite the disappointment. You live and you learn.

The older I get the more I agree that youth is wasted on the young. Too dumb to know what's there for the taking or too timid from lack of experience and understanding.

All told, I don't regret too much as 'wife of' is my best friend and the most interesting and incredible woman I have met. There will be no pigs of wife - she must be appreciated in person...and I don't like to share.
