Yeah she had a similar bizarre mistake in the SC game at home

Where she fell down stopping the ball but was only like 2 steps away from first and seemingly conceded the base to the runner. Didn’t even attempt to get there first.

Are you sure that was Knowler? I remember that play, but I'm pretty sure that was Cintron. That was during that brief period she tweaked her ankle, so they swapped Julia and Macey at 1B/DH for a few games.

Speed is not her forte, but I actually think her defense at 1st has largely been solid. She usually does a good job being flexible, making picks on short hops (like on the 3rd out in the 2nd there), and even putting tags on runners when she gets pulled off. She's not perfect though; that was just an unfortunate sequence.
But if you still wanted to DH her, the issue is that either she or Cintron has to play 1st. And Macey's defense is...well, let's just say I'd much rather have Julia in the field if at all possible based on what we've seen from Macey in her handful of games at 1st this season. Not trying to hate on Macey, after all, she's a terrific hitter, she can pitch, and she's just a freshman. But from what we've seen thus far, admittedly in a small sample size, I'd say her defense at first base is not exactly her best attribute.

The color announcer critiques everything on every play. Really annoying. She really needs to get into coaching as she knows how to do it better.🤣
