Every player on Utah gets a new truck

5

Oct 4, 2023, 5:14 PM

A Utah nil collective has gifted 85 Dodge trucks to the football team. Each Dodge 1500 has a sticker price of $65. It's a 6 mouth lease that is renewed if the player has good grades and stays on the team. Insurance is covered. The article is on Yahoo sports. Video of team celebration is on Twitter.

Looks like Utah doesn't want kids to hit the portal.

That could help keep some of those players from declaring free agency.

Remember when schools got investigated if they gave a player an extra dessert on a visit. Wasn't that one of our violations for probation in the 80's?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. We even got busted for it...a player got a piece of pie

1

Oct 4, 2023, 6:28 PM

and then asked for ice cream to go on it. Charged him for two deserts. But, if he would have gotten pie a la mode....he would have been good to go......

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A right? Profiting from NIL is legal.

That is not a right you idiot.

I was thinking the same exact thing. That's not a bad use of nil. It's tied to grades and incentives to stay there. It's not like kids getting cash and it's for all 85 so it's equal.

I guess so. Over $5 million plus insurance which will be a huge cost. The interesting thing will be how is the 1099 amount figured and how will the players pay the income tax?

The money was raised my an nil alumni collective.

These collectives are unregulated. Right now it's the wild west.

There is legislation in Congress that ask they register with the FTC.
