T. Price was a dog. I know he transferred from Mich. but he was hard to handle by the tackles. I know he played DE in college but just saying.

He's literally the #1 ranked DT in the country on every single list I've seen including the new NCAA Football video game. In what universe is that not living up to the hype?

I love Pwoo but getting drafted vs College production is different. The draft projections are based off his potential and what they think he will do this season. He has yet to be a dominant force on the DL in college. That’s facts.
He’s been decent sure but the 5* that everyone talked about? He has not lived up to that on the field yet.

What about when the guy is playing out of position?
Bc he played completely out of position last year out of necessity bc of bad/weak recruiting.
Watch what he does this year. He’s going to dominate.
An even if “stats” don’t say he’s all world… any guy drafted in round 1 whether they hit or bust certainly lived up to the 5 star hype out of high school.

Lol… your gripe is… he’s not one of the top 3ish DTs to ever play at Clemson?
Seriously? That’s your gripe? But then again it’s coming from you who I’ve literally never once seen a positive post about any sport at Clemson so I get it.
Dude is unanimously seen as the best DT in the country. Played completely out of position last year that his body type an skill set doesn’t fit and is all but assuredly going to be a 1st round draft pick.
Lol yeah… that guy hasn’t lived up to the hype.

What in the world are you watching my guy?
Dude is a probable top 10 pick and is almost unanimously considered the best DT in college football.
He has absolutely lived up to the hype.
It’s not his fault our recruiting went sideways and we had to play him out of position last season.

List of 5 stars in our history

Here is a list of 5 stars that graduated from Clemson. I think all of them lived up to the hype, but many much better than some. This is in order from best recruit, to least 5 star in history (per 247). I left off those that have not, or did not graduate, except Klubnik (since I think he already qualifies).

Funny but the ones that get away hardly ever live up to the hype.

KJ Henry needs to be removed. Tony Steward was injury prone and never got much of a chance live up to the hype.

My reply without only a bit of digging is that more pan out than bust by a significant margin.
The rating system we have is based on the potential of a player to be drafted into the NFL. 5 being most likely and so one down the list.
~60% of 5 star players end up being drafted into the NFL. it drops to 20% for 4 star players to make it. Then a drastic drop to only 4% of 3 star players being drafted. How they end up performing in the NFL is irrelevant. Coaching up and bunch of 3 stars into being 5 stars is not going to happen either.
To me that says the current ranking system for players coming out of high school is pretty much dead on.
Would that mean a team with 100% 5 star players would kick everyone's butt? Again based on NFL recruiting stats it would be a definite yes. The more 5 star and 4 star recruits you have will determine future success rates unless the school has an inept coaching staff that can recruit fantastically but can't manage teams.
