Just out of curiosity, where does everyone here get their news?

Who do you trust?
For me, it’s The Wall Street Journal, The Hill, and NPR.
I’m not trying to start a debate/flame war - I’m honestly curious since there are so many options these days.

so the only place you can get those stories is non-MSM sources.
For example Hunters laptop. Non-MSM - we have receipts, pics and his signature. MSM - Russian disinformation. guess who was right.
Covid - Non-MSM sources - numbers are inflated. MSM - we will get you fired from your job for saying such things. Guess who was right.
hundreds of "conspiracy" theories, imagine that, were true.

Lot's of places as I don't trust just one outlet for news
Jun 11, 2022, 7:11 AM
|
|
Here are some of the web sites I go to throughout the day/week:
The Washington Examiner Military.com Wall Street Journal Just the News The Epoch Times RealClear Media Outlets (RealClear Politics, RealClear Energy, RealClear Investigations etc...) CNBC The Hill Politico Fox News Fox Business News Nation The Federalist
TV News (only one show): Special Report with Bret Baier. IMO Bret Baier provides the closest to "fair and balanced" reporting of the news out of all the cable or broadcast networks.
All the rest of TV "news" ain't news as it is mostly echo chamber garbage. I catch a little CNN at the gym but what CNN calls news is mostly Democratic talking points. CNN spends most of their airtime obsessing over Donald Trump and bashing Republicans. I will give CNN a little credit for their onsite reporting from Ukraine (even though their studio analysis of the conflict is mostly a generic/regurgitation of Pentagon talking points and not insightful). I find the vast majority of TV broadcast media is largely a waste of time as it is mostly intended to drive the political narratives created by the ideologues running the networks.
My favorite Op-Ed writers (yes - they are almost all Conservatives): Victor Davis Hansen Mollie Hemingway Kurt Schlichter (the master of snark) Byron York Jonathan Turley Andrew C. McCarthy
The two Conservative echo chamber voices I will occasionally listen to: Mark Levin (both his radio show and Life, Liberty and Levin) Andrew Wilkow (Wilkow Majority)
A few Podcasts I catch every so often: Joe Rogan Newt's World (lot of interesting stuff that ain't all political) Mike Rowe (The Way I Heard It)

Well, that's awesome, since I myself know I seldom go wrong by reading what our board's most sociopathic and heartless poster (with the exception of maybe CharlestonTom) has to say...and taking the opposite position of that.
So I'm glad we agree.

Hmm...me:
I read everything. For every article I read or watch from the likes of CNN I try to balance it out with something from Fox, just to get an idea what the Infotainer fringes are saying.
Stuff I actually like, though:
The Atlantic Wall Street Journal Politico Axios NPR Reuters News Nation, especially when I watch any kind of cable news Newsy Realclear The Hill The Bulwark
I'll read things like Guardian for intelligent liberal flavor, and Washington Examiner for much of the same on the right. I try to balance my reading out. There's actually an app for that I've seen people use I might give a go.

I’d add in The Economist as well since I’m proudly old school GOP elitist/globalist at heart and look down upon the populists.
The Atlantic has some really good #### too.

But the effectiveness depends on how well you do with following the right folks. I typically follow more think tank folks, alt-media/substack writers, and industry experts (like 1A attorneys, justice issue experts).
It basically gives you access to a ton of commentary and source material, but the onus is on you to glean what you want from it, and ignore the rest.
If you want some recs on who to follow I can post them.
Edit: I do use Google news for scanning, but it's so littered with crap sites/content it's becoming less and less functional as a news aggregator.
I also have subscriptions to the Charlotte Observer (for local news) and The Atlantic (for insightful commentary, not so much news).

I always marvel at the sheer narcissism of folks who think that they're God's Special Chilluns and that they're the Chosen Ones standing at the End of Days against evil incarnate itself.
You people at least had the courtesy to wait up on mountaintops in togas while watching the clock and waiting for Jesus to arrive in his spaceship, or drinking the poison Kool-Aid while your con-man boss skeddadles with the loot before his flock even finishes hitting the floor. Or at the very worst standing on street corners wearing a posterboard and just yelling at irritated passers-by.

Now...here you are on the Internetz, spouting your batsh!t crazy for all to hear. Awesomesauce. Thanks for that.

I know I'm not the smartest person in the room. There's somebody smarter than me in just about any field you could name on here.
I do know crazy when I see it, though. And you cultists have a certain telltale combo of narcissism and this ability to just edit reality in realtime that's really fascinating to watch in action even though it's really unsettling. You just do not see stuff that challenges your worldview, you just blink twice, and poof, somehow it's gone from your brain even though you just saw it two seconds ago. It's wild to watch.
Again, if you want to pop up in the real world and tell all of us we're evil and blind and are going to burn once you wingnuts Release The Kraken or The Storm or whatever it is you're calling your tired Retread Apocalyptic Vision this week, fine and dandy, but be prepared for some, you know, pushback.
I mean, if it ever dawns on you that you're wrong, you're going to feel like quite the moron, yeah? I'll freely admit I'll feel like a total derp if I end up getting swallowed by the Kraken like Jack Sparrow. (That's a movie, by the way...not sure you have those on Fallaballa Ranch or wherever it is you're living now.) But I'm betting I won't.

For reading, I find a topic which is controversial and endeavor to read the lefties (Newsweek / Time / subscription-not-required publications); then the 'middies' (Reuters / Guardian / WSJ); then the righties (NY Post / Washington Examiner / Epoch Times); and finally the off-beat (Europe Reloaded / Red State).
For TV: Most all of them are garbage.
IMO Fox News is no longer trustworthy; other than Mark Levin I don't watch them.
Nothing worth watching from among the NBCs, C-Spans, ABCs, CBSs, MSNBCs, CNNs ... they have long ago destroyed their own credibility.
Newsmax, although produced by amateurs, is my 'best among the (others) worst' TV news outlets. Newsmax has a good program with Greg Kelly; Chris Salcedo is OK; I'm looking forward to Greta van Susteren coming to NewsMax this week.

Their comment section is the funniest on the internet.
I used to really enjoy Breitbart and InfoWars but got tired of all the constant bending over for Israel and complaining about everything and being scared all of the time.
All television is garbage. Not just news networks. Left wing pundits are insane and they want everyone to know it, and the right wing pundits are basically just gays not out of the closet yet. Save Tucker Carlson, he's okay. I actually enjoy reading CNN.com occasionally for the laughs.
The best podcast/livestream out there comes from the most banned man on the internet, Owen Benjamin. He is wildly hilarious, does not censor himself in anyway, and is a very talented piano player. Best of all he does not play the victim and encourages people to have families, be self reliant, build communities, and to always be grateful and enjoy your life.
