Watching TWC today a little bit, the people walking/driving around have been hilarious.

Yeah when I saw Cat 4 I was trying to figure out who had cat 4 winds? Where did that happen? Was it just cat 4 out in the ocean?

Not the case. You're just a sheep and too lazy to follow the dots. Dig deeper. You will see. It's like staring at one of those posters where when you look properly and don't stare to hard, open your mind, it all comes out and everything is so clear. Please don't be a sheep. The hurricane reports are all part of a bigger conspiracy. Open your eyes.

It was a high end cat 3 at landfall

Aug 30, 2023, 3:25 PM [ in reply to crap like this is why ]

Something south of Hugo, which was a low-end Cat 4.

125mph were the winds. 130 is the transition to Cat 4.

Aug 30, 2023, 9:43 PM [ in reply to I have been in a CAT 1 storm. ]

Storm surge happens for a variety of reasons. Categories are defined by wind speeds.

2025 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was around for Hugo

Aug 30, 2023, 9:52 PM

And I'm very much aware of how categories are chosen for hurricanes. 74-95 mph winds aren't pushing in a 7’+ storm surge and blowing palm trees in half.

2025 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Another "category 4" hurricane with 70 mph winds.

1

Aug 30, 2023, 3:24 PM

It's pretty simple Tom. It briefly hit the gulf and was a Cat 4. It then dropped down to a Cat 1. It then went up to a a Cat 3. It eventually turned into a tropical storm after hitting land and slowing, like all of them. What part confuses you or is there anther conspiracy theory you want us to know about?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The CIA shot that bish with a Directed Energy Weapon from space!

6

Aug 30, 2023, 3:31 PM

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

I heard "climate change" at least 20 times in 5 min of news

Aug 30, 2023, 3:54 PM

today. "the hurricanes never hit this part of FL, climate change", "hurricanes never hit CA, climate change", "it got stronger cause climate change", "it got weaker cause climate change".

p.s. when they say "never", they mean in the last 70 years on a 4.5 billion year timeline.

tnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I heard "climate change" at least 20 times in 5 min of news

1

Aug 30, 2023, 4:05 PM

It does however mean that we are consistently seeing trends and events well outside the norm.

I also can't decide which sneer you're using today. Are we just going to sneer at all weather-related events no matter how savage they get because climate change isn't happening, or is the Earth just warming on its lonesome and that's got nothing to do with us? Or are we going with argument #3, which is usually existential nihilism...you know: China and India are polluting worse than us, there's no hope and nothing we can do anyway, so effit. Because only one of those can be true and I've heard all three come out of your mouth at various points.

So please decide.
