Make sure you're not paying comprehensive on the junk Toyota .. you'll only get book value if you wreck it, which won't be alot.

max coverage and another $145/year for a $1,000,000 umbrella. My truck is a company truck and we have a spare company truck that we can use.
I signed over all the kids cars when they graduated college. It took a year or two though. They were bucking the system.

My wife's 2018 Crosstrek costs $945. NJ is supposed to have brutal car insurance rates, but I have no complaints.

121/mth 2 vehicles. Full coverage on 1,and liability and collision on the old truck.
Auto Owner's Insurance through broker.
You must have a few claims still lingering or something. I'd be shopping that mess for better rates!
I've used a broker since around 05,and works well for me.

Just spoke with someone and it's because my daughter

had to be on the insurance while she was at college. Now, that she's graduated and employed I can drop her. Off at college means still living in the home even though she was 6.5 hours away.
BTW, she totaled her car in 2020 and is biking, hoofing it, and Ubering in Tallahassee.

One car is titled to me and on my insurance but
May 23, 2022, 2:25 PM

my daughter makes a car payment to me that includes insurance and she's responsible for maintenance. Since she's still living at home it was cheaper to title it in my name and keep her on my insurance. When she moves out then the car will be transferred to her and she'll get her own insurance.

More than that...
May 23, 2022, 2:55 PM

But I have two teen drivers and one college age driver and two of those three have had wrecks that were their fault. The third is a boy. And then my wife and I and I have one speeding ticket. So more than that.

So parenting question...
May 23, 2022, 3:16 PM
|
|
My kid is 2.5 so who knows what people will be driving (or not driving) when he's 16...
But I always thought a good parental strategy was, when handed the keys, they were aware they would be expected to cover the difference in premiums that any speeding tickets/accidents created. But not sure how that works in practice.

Well, older daughter was in a tiny little wreck
May 23, 2022, 3:41 PM
|
|
with no damage at all to her car and they literally paid to buff out the bumper of the other car. So I'm not sure that was not one of those "forgiven" accidents. But then added son of and he's a boy, so that jacked up the rates a good bit even though older daughter didn't take a car to college so I got to adjust her premium down since she only drives the car when she's home and college is more than an hour and a half away. Then added second daughter and she caused more damage to the car she hit than she makes at her job. The difference in premiums after her wreck is like 160 per month.
