Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Friday, got up needing to get a few things done, like the last 10 minutes of grass mowing from when I ran out of gasoline before I could get finished. Well the truck wouldn't start. Figuring there was nothing I could do about that today, I went on about my business. Went over to some friend's house for steaks, beer, and an 8 mile bicycle ride that left me sore for 2 days.
Saturday, got up to try and see if AAA could help with the truck. They are limited in their diagnostic capabilities. It isn't the battery and he did not have an OBD2 scanner. This matter is still unresolved. Went to some different friends' house for smoked turkey goodness.
Sunday, rested mostly.

Fri - Went out for brunch for brother's birthday. Then went to the lake at dad's for a little cookout with about 40 people.
Sat - Up early and met fishing buddy at the river. I threw the big bait all morning and landed a 4.65 big fish. Got home and cleaned up the yak and cleaned out my building. Watched a movie with the kids.
Sun - Church in the morning. Stayed home all day and had people over last night for fireworks.

Fri - Watched some tennis. Cookout with some friends. bailed out before any fireworks. Pretty much over that.
Sat - watched some more tennis, piddled around the house.
Sun - Sang in quartet at church. Got home just as the Chantal deluge began. We are high and dry. others not so fortunate. thoughts and prayers for them.

Did some yardwork, pressure washing and some concrete repair. Also ate and drank a lot. Also watched the rest of the Bear and some TDF. Also watched a small amount of a comically bad late-model jurassic park, no idea which one. When did that ish get worse than sharknado?

Wife worked the weekend, one kid left for Manchester and Wales. Other kid worked. Me and the dogs.
Did a lot of cleaning and cooking. Aero thinks I'm rich and asked me if I had a Pitt Boss smoker, I guess he was having issues.

Thursday: Flew myself, Mrs Pabst and Grandma Pabst to LA to see little Pabst. Smooth, until grandma Pabst decided to take small, but bloody, tumble. But nothing broken so just neosporene and bandaid. In-N-out burger for dinner...amazing Friday: Malibu, Topanga canyon drive/hike and lots of local foods Saturday: Catalina island boat ride, and day in Avalon, CA. Saw whales (both Dolphins, Fin and minke), pretty amazing. Ended day on LBC beaches. Sunday flight home, smooth and recovering.
Grateful for the opportunity to take Grandma Pabst to see CA for 1st time ever and see granddaughter. It was not easy on Mrs Pabst and myself but grateful.
Would and will do again!!

Palisades and where fire did hit Malibu still crispy. Still lots of burnt structures and even vehicles along PCH.
Topanga is a must drive, eat at Cafe on 27...so badarse views.
Bro LBC was insane. Illegal fireworks cause a lot of house fires and unfortunately even deaths...bad was kids died (attached view from Signal Hill of several houses on fire). All the towns canceled fireworks bc of protesters/ICE. Saw a lot of arrests and fights.

One would not think the LBC would turn out for St. Paddy's. I mean, it ain't exactly known for its large Irish population. Boy was APM wrong. Pine Ave was off day chain. Every nationality wallin'. Every bar packed.

With the 4th of July falling on a weekend...

we decided to do as much nothing as possible, and pretty much achieved that. July 4th is the summer edition of Amateur Night, and I'm too old and cranky to get out amongst that bovine feces, so we stayed home, did a few chores, cooked some good stuff, relaxed a lot, and left it at that.
It seems like I should penalize the weekend because we did nothing, so 18.5/19 Covids only because there wasn't any live music scheduled nearby that was motivating enough to leave the house for.

Brisket turned out good, although I need to refine the rub a bit and also get better pellets, still good. 4 racks of ribs turned out as expected. Feast was had. Kids played on the slip n slide in the backyard. Mom had a cell phone crisis, wasn't receiving calls, otherwise worked fine. No VM either. Called Verizon and evidently she had manually enabled call forwarding (she hit *72 at some point). Fixed that. Then did a little work before MIL's birthday party. Middle son got back from his week at scout camp. He had a blast. Oldest son got his AP score for world history. 4/5, same as his old man.

Thurs - craft night for kids at club then pizza. made some tye dye shirts that turned out fresh AFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Fri - down to in-laws for parade then pool. kids loved it. firemen let my 3 yr old blare the horn which scared the absoluteshit out of her ha.
drove kids home in PM, then did neighbor cook out. first time grilling my new RFK approved locally sourced beef share. amazing the taste difference vs store bought. so sick.
got hammers and had hammers pound sesh late night
Sat - did yard work early and proceeded to sweat out my hangover while wife took kids to hood pool. naps n shidd, then to another hood cookout. took it much easier.
Sun - walked 18 at 7:10 and still proceeded to sweat out my weekend. holy bawlsack. played good enough to be pissed - 81, two doubles and 3 3-putts. just....eff me. smashed beer in mens lounge, made it home for lunch.
naps, pound town, vegged out on couch.
afternoon was chill, lounging round the house. cooked my first steak from the beef share and it was teh allsome.
also made my first batch of breakfast sausage for the rugrats from the pork share. big hit. slowly getting there.
slept in, not hungover, ready to go.
of note - I've had this death cough for boutadamn week. finally over it I hope.

Hosted a Beach Volleyball Tournament to raise money for the Teal Diva organization which helps support women who are currently going through, or have gone through, gynecologic cancers. Mom was involved with this organization for her brief 3 years battling ovarian cancer.
We had 21 teams sign up to play, 20 showed in the middle of a tropical storm, and we raised enough money to send a survivor to a wellness camp that they host so we were proud of how it turned out. Looks like it was successful enough to start planning for next years event, hopefully we can get bigger and better and get closer to 40 teams.
Rest of weekend was just recovering from trip out to Jackson Hole. That was also awesome.

Wed - been having problems with my neck, so went to a friend's house (he is a PT) and he dry needled the ever living sh>it of my upper back/neck, especially on the right side. No work on Thurs, so did the bingo thing and won twice for a total of $20.
Thurs - woke up being able to move my neck again but sore af. Got a late start for our trip to Beaufort, but made it there and got checked in at the Rhett House Inn. Place is old, old, old but pretty cool. Made our way to Hemingways for drinks, supper at the Old Bull Tavern. Menu was a little funky, was hoping for seafood, so when in doubt go with steak. Was good. Back out to Luther's, was hoping for some live music but it had ended before we got back out from supper.
Fri - woke up being able to move my neck but still sore af. Little one was at Fripp Island all week with a friend from school so went and got her. Headed to Shellring Aleworks in Port Royal for a couple, beer was pretty decent. Had only made reservation at the Rhett House Inn for one night, so had to go check in at the other hotel. Took a quick dip in the pool with little one. Took her BACK to Fripp so she could stay a couple of days with another friend. Had burgers/dogs with the family and took in the fireworks show. Show was average at best, but 'Murica! Wife and I head back to Beaufort and go back to Luther's and find some music. Just a couple of old rednecks strumming guitar but they were pretty good.
Sat - still somewhat sore but getting better. Back to Aiken and wife goes straight to bed. I head to Lowes grocery with some dudes and do the growler fill thing. Had been considering going to Aiken Music Fest to see The Ain't Sisters, and RH Tig convinced me to get my a>ss to the show. Glad I did, the weather was unbelievably nice for whatever reason, and the band was great. All original, no covers. Started off just kinda meh, but once they got going they played stuff that was reminiscent of the Beatles, to Pink Floyd, and finished up with just straight face melting rock and roll. Was excellent. Hit karaoke with a buddy for a little bit afterward.
Sun - ran a whole bunch of errands. Little one finally returned home. All is right with the world, but tired from a very busy weekend and still a little sore.

Let's back up a bit. Thursday was like a Friday and they even had fireworks here on Thursday. So we had a nice meal, watched the final episode of The Bear, and watched fireworks over the mountain from our second story window. All good. Then the REAL weekend for APM began.
Drove to Winchester, VA early Friday mawn (the 4th) to meet my sister halfway from PA where my mom had been staying. Did not expect the protestors on the overpasses, but there they were.
Drove back down to da Noke. Grilled burgers & corn OTC, had tater salad and watermelon. Watched a Capitol Fourth, which was actually decent for all ages. USA. USA.
Saturday began the real, real "fun." Drove 6 hours down to Aiken. Got my mom and two witnesses to agree to finalize a healthcare power of attorney. Was up until 10ish but was cross eyed from driving and managing mom and her friends (bless them though).
Yestidee got up and went for a 4.5-mile run and walk at Odell Weeks in Aiken. Nice weather due to the storm. Waited for Staples to open so I could go make copies of the healthcare POA. Talked to mom for about an hour about next steps including a Durable POA, updated will, changing deeds, etc. There was anger and tears. Sucks being 80 and in declining health. But overall mom did pretty well.
Then I left, drove in heavy traffic until I got past Charlotte, then it rained for the final 2 hours of my drive.
Got back to the Noke exhausted. Not going into the office today. Just tryna recover a bit.

Other MSynan was in Homosassa all week. I got to spend Mon - Thurs there scalloping. Got lots of em
Thu - convinced youngest (RSynan) to go with me on the golf cart to the fireworks show. Oldest (KSynan, 16 so no pigs) returned from cousins vacation on Lake Norman. Asked her how it was and she wanted to tell me about how much fun Beer Ball was. Cut her off. Dad don't want to hear that ####
Fri - Saw my Coot buddy play some tunes. Anybody remember a band called Urban Deer? That was him. Home early to make sure RSynan was good, so buddies came over and we stayed up way too late drinking
Sat - other MSynan came home, I napped off my hangover all day
Sun - time to cook the scallops. Did the veggies in Sherry, the scallops in lemon butter, then combined the whole thing with spaghetti. Delicious and am just an hour away from leftovers. Swam with child and got in 36 holes of Golden Tee including a 20 under round
19/19 COVIDS, especially when my Coot friend took my request for Howlin Wolf

Y'all have the news. You have likely seen what's going on here in Central Texas.
I'm fortunate to live on a hill, with a 15-ft retaining wall at the back of my property. We have a creek at the back of our sub division that flooded 5 feet over the road, which when combined with construction, took half of the exits out of the neighborhood down.
Lake Travis, down stream from Kerrville and Llano was fortunately only at 43% of capacity when this started, it is now at almost 70% of capacity. We've added almost 230k acre-feet of water to the lake in the course of the weekend, which is absolutely unheard of.
Any how, it's back to work this week.

Knowing where your house is situated, it's nuts to think you had that happening!

That had to be hellacious flooding because you have cul-de-sacs in front and behind you. I'm assuming you had some neighbors who sustained some flooding damage, considering you're almost in the middle of your neighborhood!

We have a pretty steep drop off for the neighborhood as a whole

It's about 20+ feet in elevation drop from the back of the houses on springfield down to the greenbelt, so there wasn't flooding in the neighborhood, but the greenbelt got a lot.
Red is where all the closed exits to the neighborhood are.
The second map shows the flood plane.

As in we threw our legendary neighborhood fireworks show on our street on Friday and had one helluva party doing it. We have to rope off our properties to the crowd for both safety and to keep out randos from our private party that happens before the show. Even still, here are some of the mishaps:
-Some shaggy haired kid, about 14, wandered into my garage early into the party (like 6ish) and this was our conversation: Me: "What's up?" Him: "Hey, man." (If I had addressed an adult like that when I first met him at his house, my daddy woulda launched me like a Roman candle) Me: "Can I help you?" Him: "Is there somewhere I can plug in and charge?" Me: "Who are you?" Him: "You want to know my name?" Me: "Uh, yeah." Gave me some name I have since forgotten but it sounded silly. Me: "Who are you here with? Like who are your parents?" Him: "I'm just here with me." Me: "This is a private party, dude. Sorry." Him: "Oh." And trudged away.
-Some little idiot kid set off a #### firework 10 feet from our arsenal (and you'd have read about it on the news if THAT had all gone off) around 6:30 p.m. and we had to scream at him because his dad did nothing.
-Later, I caught about five teenage girls I had never seen before trying to enter my home from my garage and they made faces when I booted them out.
-Our mortar devices got overheated and blew up on the launch pads; however, no one was hurt. We keep the crowd far enough back that it can't reach them and the pyro techs understand the risk.

The rest of the weekend was just clean up and chill.
