in the spirit of NCS week, I would like to hear stories of your worst fan interactions.... mine was in Maryland (shocker). a older man came up to our tailgate and said "rub this rock" then he threw a rock at us almost as big as Howard's rock. GO Tigers!

The Wuffies and their antics are the Salvation Army compared to the Terps we had to deal with back in the day.
Given the pleasant reception our folks reported from the L'ville game, I'd say we came out WAAAAAAY ahead on that trade.

Two years ago, with my Clemson friends and my wife (UMD Alum, nobody's perfect)
In the end zone stands, cheering for the Tigers, not being loud or aggressive toward anyone. My buddy is wearing orange pants with tiger paws on them.
A middle-aged man behind us with someone I presume to be his wife, taps him on the shoulder and says "Nice pants, [gay slur starting with F]!"
I've had plenty of trash-talk and spirited discussions with ##### fans, UGA fans, etc...but that was when I was a student and they were students and there was a metric ton of cheap booze involved, and it never rose to the level of being nasty or mean-spirited. Just kids talking drunken smack.
Grown adults being horrendous people is another thing entirely, and it seems to be mostly centered around College Park.

My most unpleasant experience was ar Wake. Guy swerved and bumped us with the side mirror of his Escalade. That we lost the game didn't help either. Best fan experience was BC but again game outcome may have clouded my memory. Dabo's first win.

The Ohio State fans were terrible. This one super crazy guy was blaring really stupid music and was really loud. Like the annoying loud. Then we had four Ohio State fans sit in front of us, even though we bought our tickets through the University, and run their mouths until the end. They were all terrible.

Ditto that. I live among OSU fans and find them to be great people.
Worst experience, UGA easily. USC fans have been hospitable for the most part, but I am friends with many. NCST fans have been pretty bad, I have seen full beer cans thrown at Clemson fans and car vandalism. Never went to Maryland, sounds like a good thing I didn't.

LSU gan on the underground in ATL . He was polluted out of his mind , had a foul mouth ( keep in mind I am the son of a Navy Master Chief ) and he shoved my then girlfriend in front of her 9 yr old son because she stepped on his wife's handbag on a terribly overcrowded train to the dome . When I asked him to apologize he went berzerk and said he was going to punch my face . Now , I am not an intellectual , but I am also not the guy who will shy away from confrontation . This dude was all of 5'7" and about 150 . I am 6'3" and 235 . I also spent most of my childhood fist fighting the locals when my dad would get stationed in the next town, so fighting is not something I'm exactly uncomfortable with , right or wrong . My girlfriend intervened thankfully ...or U could have missed the game . That guy was an idiot , and a complete ### . Liquor , it's not always the best idea if you also have a heinously repulsive inner personality .

Worst was WB for a UGA game back in '01 or so. sc was fresh off a 21 game losing streak and UGA was top 5 and had Quincy Carter and NC aspirations. My buddy was a UGA student and his parents gave him tix for his birthday. We drove down and pregame everyone was fairly nice. But Quincy Carter threw like 5 interceptions and sc started to win and those people became crazy. Spitting and barking at my friend (I was just wearing regular clothes). We left and no kidding, driving on 26, someone rolled down a window and threw a glass beer bottle at my friend's car - it smashed our windshield. I haven't been back to WB since - although I'm considering going this year (*for anyone that goes down there for the Clemson games, I have some questions)
Best fans I've ever seen was the ACCCG versus VT. The nicest group I've ever met - it's not even close. We couldn't get them to talk trash - we were kind of poking at them and they'd agree with us. They told us how great a team we had going into that game and they all congratulated us as they left. It was just surreal.

you'll change your tune. I went to the Thursday night game I guess in what? 2003 or thereabouts? They kicked our butt and then a parade came waking through our tailgate talking more junk and trying to instigate a fight. Having said that, inside the game they were nice, but again they were also kicking our butt and we were in the high dollar seats. Back then VT fans I knew talked more junk than about anyone I know. I haven't heard much out of them lately though. LOL

I was at the 2006 Thurs night game in Blacksburg. This was the game after GT gameday and we got whipped. Overall, fans weren't too bad, but did have a few rude ones. Had a college student jump in my face, yell and flip me off as I was walking to the stadium. I snatched his shirt just under his throat and asked him what his problem was. He looked like a deer in headlights. To be honest, I thought the place was way overrated.

and NC State is a very close (very close) second behind Maryland. Georgia wins this vote in a landslide IMO.
Conversely, the best fans I've ever encountered were from Texas A&M, Louisville, Nebraska and Penn State.

Guy had the worst language I have ever heard. He sat behind me and my son(age 7) and put a GD or F between every relevant word. Sitting with a 7 year old will make you overtly sensitive to foul language but I wasn't the only offended party. He jawed with every person around him. He spilled beer all down our backs and challenged me and everybody else around us to a fight.
This all happened in the first few minutes of the game as alternative seating was not difficult to find so we moved whe Temple took the 3-0 lead.
Wasn't much longer till he was being escorted from the stadium, his shirt off and waving above his head.
I've had run-ins with a couple of mouthy fanbases, but nothing compared to this nut.

At Charger game a few years ago, me and 4 Marine buddies tailgating in Qualcomm parking lot. I had Clemson hoodie on....idiot comes up with Chicken shirt on saying, "THREE IN A ROW!".....walks right up into our grill area and knocks chair over, drunk while lunging towards me. I had tongs in one hand, beer in other so my buddy, a Duck fan and grad dots his eye, dropping him to the pavement. His three friends stand there wanting nada to do with it. SDPD comes over and asks both sides what happened and his buddies told same story we did. They dragged his ### off with them. Don't know what happened to him and don't care. My Duck buddy despises USuCk to this day and has become a closet Tiger fan.....secondly in Athens as a 9 year old we were leaving game (with Pop and Uncle) when a JD bottle came tumbling across the hood of Uncle's Bonneville that had Paw magnets on it. My Pop looked back and said, "STAY IN THE CAR!", doors opened and my Uncle, Clemson Class of '56, and my Korean War vet ND Domer fan Pop snatched two rednecks up and it was ugly quick. Cops came and told them to get in the car and get out of there....my Pop's hand was bleeding and my Uncle broke a finger on the idiot he had but my Pop got in the car and said, "Don't say a word to your Mom or Aunt.....this was men's stuff, understand?".

Having been in TigerBand I had some interesting experiences
Oct 29, 2015, 11:34 AM
|
|
Maryland: Never had any run in with the fans but the town of College Park won't make you feel safe.
Florida State: We had things thrown at us.
SC: As much as they made it seem bad we really never had a lot happen, of course they made us line up and stay close together.
Boston College: Actually the nicest people we ever met. Just seem a little too nice.
Georgia Tech: Fans trying to slide through the band's section in the stands after the game. One fan got in a drummers face and acted like he was going to punch him in the chest. That would have been hilarious since the drummers have a hard plate that is part of their carrier which is under their band jackets.
Michigan: This one is a little different because I also did Basketball Pep Band. We were at the NCAA Tourney in Kansas City in 2009. Granted it was only a couple of fans but they were drunk at the pep rally, for all of the schools, and were shaking dollars at our cheerleaders and yelling profanities and such.

FAMU in '88' a full Coke thrown on me that exploded all over my snare head, NC A&T in '89' a big lollipop, one of those big rainbow types, hit me in the throat while marching in stadium, mid cadence, Georgia Southern in '89' , a cup of water thrown in my face while coming back in stands after halftime show where we blew the roof off the place....in the true spirit of the Bongo Brothers Inc. drumline I never stopped playing but I must say that me and my bros. were looking all over for the ######## after game was over before marching out.....they are lucky we didn't find them and I am glad too because as wild as we were we would have gotten kicked out of school with the roughneck mentality that us fools had back then, LOL. Clemson/Duke at Wallace Wade 1984...(long)

One of if not the funniest I've ever had...
My son Jeremy(age 8 at the time) and I went to Durham to watch the game. We had tickets and got there really early(around 10:30 or so). Parked on the wrong side of WW and were walking around when a gentleman stopped on a golf cart and asked us if we needed a ride. Come to find out he was the VP of Duke and he gave us a 30 minute ride around campus with tour info and such. Really great guy and wished us luck.
He drops us off on visitors side and J and I buy some lunch, knock around some, and then go inside. We are on the 30-40 yard line about six rows back from the bottom wall. A nice looking couple comes in and sits beside us. He has snuck in a bottle of JD and is hitting it pretty heavy, and she as well.
Game starts and we are really playing good. Before I know it, this guy is outta his seat and standing on the wall just hollering for the Dookies. I look at the girl and she is just smiling. She goes and gets him down and this repeats itself about two times(in between he and she are getting some more JD to "bolster" their confidence...).
Finally he sits down but is still boisterous and before you know it, she is trying to literally "sit in my lap" to get away from him. She gets her a hit of JD and it inflates her courage, so to speak. Jeremy is laughing at all this, and the people around us are enjoying this as much as the game.
Suddenly Mr. So-and-So heads back to the wall, and she is trying to hide(where else???). Security comes to get him and they escort him out. She is now in my seat and we've slid two spots down. Before you know it, he has climbed back over the fence and is back on the wall screaming for his his Dookies, and she is right there beside him. Security gets both of them, and they get a standing ovation as they are led up the steps.

"a older man came up to our tailgate and said "rub this rock""
I definitely thought that was going to go a different direction.
My worst was with a drunk coot fan down at the cockroach. I was sitting on the aisle and as he was walking up he was yelling and screaming and physically leaning into every Clemson fan he saw. It p!ssed me off when he did it to an old man below me so when he got to me he leaned into me with some force and I threw up my arm and threw him off of me. He ended up halfway over the railing that leads down into a tunnel.

I've been to a lot of Clemson game, A LOT, and the most memorable negative experience I can recall actually happened a few weekends ago at the the Ga Tech game. I was standing up yelling my a$$ off when the Defense was making one of their awesome stops, and I turn around to view the crowd involvement and this older lady (maybe in her 60's or 70's) motions for me to sit down?!?! She was a Clemson fan mind you, and I was floored that she had the audacity to try and quiet me down when I was merely just giving 110% by standing and cheering! I just don't get it!

Buddy of mine was walking down the street in Tallahassee the day before the game when a car full of FSU students pulled up, stopped, then jumped out and beat the crap out of him. He got a broken nose and spent the night in the hospital, but was with us in Doak to witness the beat down the next day!
Strength in numbers in Tallahassee, my friends. Lesson learned.

rocking my Clemson gear and was berated by some artsy hippie on the way back to the car. Other than that everyone there was pleasant. Also had one drunk at a UVA game get in my face as we were walking back, but again these were not the norm for the trips.
Now I have had a couple of altercations with NCS fans/students when I was a student at Clemson with them playing here. Bunch of jerks in that group, I can only imagine how bad it is in Raleigh.

First time I had ever been in the upper deck there. Coming down the ramp some old guy got up in my ear and hollered as loud as he could. So I hollered back and asked him if it made him feel like a man since his team won. Then his 20-something son bowed up like he was ready to fight, so I told him to bring it on. Chicken sheets just kept on mouthing off as they walked out. Bad thing about it was my 12-year-old son was with me, so that was an object lesson in setting a good example. I told him in the car that I shouldn't have let the old man get to me. He seemed to understand, and I've used a whole lot of restraint ever since. In fact, I don't get nearly as upset when we lose. It's just not worth the collateral damage it can cause.

The band was marching toward us while yelling "Go back! Go back!" and making face. Such a warm welcome, eh? My friend and I found it to be highly inappropriate coming from the band.
After the game, we saw a SWAT truck and a few police cars rushing it. I heard there were some MD fans starting a fire somewhere.

At UGA I was spat on and pelted with unopened cans of beer walking down fraternity row after receiving shady directions from a UGA fan on how to get to the stadium. At NCST I was constantly being yelled at and berated while tailgating by NCST fans and during the game I had several grown men try to fight me in the stands for cheering on Dantzler and Co. Keep in mind I was a kid at the time of these incidents.

I was so at a uscjr Clemson game with my dad about 10 years ago and I was 14. I was about to walk into our gate when a coot fan walked up to me, got in my face, and said "you're a ####### clemson fan sucks for you." so I proceeed to let him know I'm a die hard Clemson fan and we're about to take them to the woodshed . As you would imagine it escalated quickly. The guy ending up pushing me and my dad must of had enough because he came in with a right hook right to the guys jaw and knocked him on his ### and said "good luck." as you would of guessed we went on to win the game. Go tigers!

I didn't know coeds could be that vulgar and drunk. They had a parade preparing for the defending NC's. It wasn't pretty.
A second would be the cesspool of the south in 1987.

FSU game last year. Walking down frat row after the game we were bombarded with beers.
I was also at the orange bowl and thought the Ohio state fans were great. Very friendly.

My worst away game experience was in Knoxville, Tennessee during the Music City Bowl. After we beat Kentucky, a wildcat fan spit on my truck.
